As the 2026 NFL season approached, brands across industries leveraged football fever to drive consumer engagement. From streaming platforms competing over Sunday Ticket pricing to retailers launching licensed NFL collections, marketers treated kickoff as a launchpad for creative promotions. Strategies varied by sector but shared a common playbook: wrap commercial incentives in game day excitement to motivate action.

Streaming Services
Competition for football fans’ screens was fierce. YouTube promoted NFL Sunday Ticket at $30 per month for eight months, positioning it as the cure for “football FOMO.” Fubo offered $80 off its Pro Plan, while SiriusXM introduced a Sports Pass at just $5 per month for live NFL audio. Netflix promoted its first-ever regular season game in Melbourne, Australia. Aggressive pricing and bundling defined the push to lock in subscribers before kickoff.

Clothing and Accessories
Retailers leveraged NFL licensing partnerships to blend team spirit with promotional mechanics. Belk promoted up to 50% off men’s apparel with a football theme and free shipping over $99. Abercrombie & Fitch offered an extra 25% off for loyalty members alongside new NFL pieces. Maurices paired up to 40% off with 15% off a first credit card purchase. Alex and Ani ran 15% off football charm jewelry all month. The common thread: layering NFL branding on existing discounts and loyalty programs to give shoppers an extra reason to buy.

Foodservice
Restaurants leaned into game day occasions with value-driven promotions. Applebee’s rolled out an NFL Season Wing Ticket Holder program, giving loyalty members six free Boneless Wings To Go weekly with qualifying orders through January 2027. Pizza Hut offered a Triple Treat Box Gameday Edition with two medium one-topping pizzas, while Outback Steakhouse went big with 60 wings for $60. Arby’s targeted Monday Night Football viewers with $1.99 Mozzarella Sticks via its Rewards app. Qdoba waived delivery fees for a full week, and Auntie Anne’s offered 20% off Football Buckets before kickoff. Each promotion connected menu items to the ritual of watching football, making food part of the fan experience.

Home Goods and Electronics
Home and electronics brands positioned NFL season as the reason to upgrade entertainment setups. Crate & Barrel introduced an NFL Game Day Collection of team-branded tabletop and barware. Williams-Sonoma encouraged fans to “Add To Your Kitchen Roster,” offering NFL-themed cutting boards, cast iron pans, and more, along with 10% back in rewards for new cardmembers. LG Electronics paired up to 30% off OLED TVs with a $200 NFL Shop eGift Card. Best Buy ran multiple campaigns, including NFL Sunday Ticket for $234 with a new TV purchase. Each strategy tied product upgrades to an enhanced game day viewing experience.

Football season proves to be a powerful promotional catalyst. The most effective campaigns built offers around fan rituals, whether bundling streaming access, stocking up on game day snacks, refreshing a wardrobe with team gear, or upgrading a living room TV. Brands that connected their products to the emotional pull of football created promotions that felt relevant rather than forced.
